Backup & disaster recovery

Backups that have been restored from, not just scheduled. We design the backup targets, set the retention, and — the part most often skipped — test the restore, so the first time anyone attempts recovery is not during an actual incident.

What's included

Inside Backup & DR

  • Backup design and scheduling
  • On-premise, cloud, and hybrid targets
  • Replication
  • Restore testing
  • RPO/RTO planning
  • Documented recovery runbooks

When you need it

You probably need this if

  • Backups report success and nobody has verified one in months
  • There is no answer to how long recovery would take
  • The only copy is in the same room as the system it protects
  • Ransomware would encrypt the backups along with everything else

Who it's for

Typically bought by

  • Businesses whose backups run but have never been restored from
  • Organisations that could not currently say how much data a failure would cost them
  • Teams asked by an auditor or insurer to evidence a recovery plan
  • Anyone relying on a single backup copy in the same building as the original

Questions

About Backup & DR

  • What are RPO and RTO, in plain terms?

RPO is how much data you can afford to lose, measured in time. RTO is how long you can afford to be down. Every other decision — backup frequency, target, cost — follows from those two numbers, which is why we ask them first.

  • Do you test restores, or just backups?

Restores. A backup job reporting success proves a file was written, not that it can be recovered. Restore testing is part of the design, not an optional extra.
